Nine Inch Nails – Eden Sessions

I’ve been waiting years to see Nine Inch Nails again. I bought a ticket as soon as they were announced. They didn’t disappoint. I only took 1 photo (I didn’t want to lose my phone…). This is not really a review, just ramblings.

The ticket included entry to the Eden Project itself for the whole weekend, so I spent the afternoon wandering around the very interesting attractions. Then a couple of hours standing in front of the stage trying not to lose my place.

Support was from Nitzer Ebb, down a member tonight, but they put on a sterling performance anyway. I only know a couple of their songs, which seemed to be a couple more than most of the rest of the crowd, and they only played one of those, but they were very good.

Nine Inch Nails have been one of my favourite bands before they’d even released anything this side of the Atlantic. Those were the days before streaming and simultaneous world-wide releases, for new bands at least. But my cousin had been living in Texas for a couple of years and she brought back a tape of Pretty Hate Machine which she played me. Despite my best efforts, the only thing I could get then was an import CD single of Down In It.

Then in 1991 I was lucky enough to see them supporting Guns n’ Roses at (the old) Wembley Stadium, pre the Bowie-suggested hair cut. I think I was pretty much the only one who knew any of their songs that day.
